Roberto Dones has contributed to the GaBE project (Comprehensive assessment of Energy Systems) as Systems/Safety Analyst since 1992 at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI). His activities mostly focus on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Risk Assessment, Multi-Criteria Decision Assessment, Integration, and Communication of integrated results (including development of interactive DVD tools).

He is responsible for the Life Cycle Assessment of current Swiss and European energy systems for the on-line “ecoinvent” database. He has also performed and co-ordinated several LCA tasks for national and international projects on current as well as future energy systems.

He also consults on LCA- and Sustainability-related issues to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other bodies.

He previously worked two years at IAEA, participating in a programme on the assessment and management of health and environmental risks from energy and other complex industrial systems.

He first worked for six years as Thermal-Hydraulic Safety Analyst for the nuclear department of the Italian engineering company Ansaldo.

He holds a Master degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Palermo, Italy.
